As the industry standard for pressure vessel grade steel plates, PVQ SA516 is used for moderate and lower temperature implementation. Our SA 516 inventory has longitudinal Charpy V-notch testing to Category IV or -50 degrees Fahrenheit, bringing together the benefit of superior strength, weldability and toughness. Though pressure vessel plates and structural plates are comparable in multiple ways including chemical and mechanical composition, the processing and manufacturing techniques used to manufacture pressure vessel plates are some of the most innovative in the steel industry. Using fully killed fine-grained steels, SA516 can be interchanged with ASTM A20 but are not recommended for temperatures above 850 degrees Fahrenheit. Our inventory includes:
- Thicknesses of 3/16" through 10"
- Standard stock size of 96" by 240", 96" by 384", 96" by 480", 120" by 480"
