A high strength material with a yield strength of over 100 ksi, ASTM A514 steel is a quenched and tempered alloy steel that can be used in a multitude of different applications including:
This is the perfect type of steel when looking for weldability and tolerance of low atmospheric temperatures. We offer a variety of thickness options, ranging from 3/16” to 8”. This model comes in four different standard stock sizes including:
The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) created standards for ASTM A514 in order to establish engineering criteria in the 1950s when it was introduced as an alternative to traditionally heavily alloyed and expensive armour steel. The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) then renamed the steel CSA G40.21 100 QT during the 1980s. With the exception of minor modifications, ASTM A514's have been maintained since they were written, upkeeping a high standard of quality for the steel plate that is passed on to products manufactured from it.
Because there lacks a unified engineering standard for wear applications throughout North America, it gives steel mills the opportunity to create their own engineering design criteria and manufacturing practices for both structural and wear applications. It also gives us the ability to offer you the highest quality ASTM A514 available.
